Sophie Pointurier Pournin is a French sign-language interpreter. She was trained at ESIT where she now teaches. At the same time, she is working on a PhD in interpreting. Her research interests include the lexical gap phenomenon in French to French Sign Language interpreting and interpreting tactics.
Daniel Gile is a former scientific and technical translator and presently works as a conference interpreter. He is also professor at ESIT, Université Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle where he teaches translation, conference interpreting and research methods. His academic training includes degrees in mathematics and sociology, a PhD in Japanese and a PhD in linguistics, and his research interests are cognitive aspects of interpreting, translator and interpreter training, training in research methods and Translation Studies as an object of research.
